La Serena and Valle de Elqui

La Serena is a small city close to the beach and is located quite in the middle of Chile. The best La Serena has to offer is that it is near to the famous Valle de Elqui, where Chile's most iconic spirit - the Pisco - is produced. Just after a two hour bus ride from La Serena we arrived at the village Pisco Elqui. A fantastic landscape full of vinyards embedded into the mountainside were absolutely worth the daytrip. The Valle de Elqui is also a prime location for international star observatories due to its clear sky and perfect weather conditions.
