Philippines

What a great country to which we got to by accident. On the day before travelling to Australia we remembered that we had to apply for a visa... Ups?! Obviously we didn't get the confirmation immediately. Considering that we really wanted to have some beach and diving time, we decided to go to the Philippines. So on the next day we took a plane to Manila, a city with few things to see and where you feel really happy once you have arranged your plane ticket to get out of it. Our ticket was to go to Palawan, a beautiful island just about one and a half hours by plane south west of Manila. Upon arrival to Puerto Princesa we were sure we had taken the right decision. Nice accidents happen in life, you just have to be flexible! In Puerto Princesa we had an amazing dinner consisting of cheap and fresh sea food as we didn't have it in months. Our next stop was El Nido, a beautiful town in the north of Palawan, famous for diving and for its unique and marvelous lagoons. We enjoyed the diving so much and could definitely say that this had been our best dive till that moment. Turtles, cuttle fish, sting rays, lion fish and lots of different creatures with thousands of colours and shapes... Legen..dary! After four nights in El Nido we continued our journey and and took a small bangka (typical Philippino boat) to go to Coron on Busuanga island  about seven hours by boat north of El Nido. Busuanga and the surrounding islands and bays are world famous for wreck diving. Some twenty something japanese ships which were sunk by the Americans during World War II delight divers from all over the world. Philippines, what a beautiful country: rich nature, incredible beaches, very nice and friendly people and lots of good and cheap food and places to stay. We really loved it. This had been one of the best spontaneous decisions we were forced to take on our trip so far. Sweet...
