Delhi- Mandawa- Bikaner- Jaisalmer- Jodhpur- Udaipur

From Amritsar we took the train back to Delhi where we stayed two nights before we left for our Rajasthan tour. The climate in Delhi was intense. It was very hot and incredibly humid so that sightseeing or even any kind of physical movement was torture ;-)! Allthough Delhi is not a city to write home about (except your relatives like noisy, busy, crowded, dirty and exhausting cities) we visited the Red Fort (Lal Qila) and the biggest mosque in India called Jama Masjid.

The next day we started our tour through Rajasthan. Our first stop was Mandawa- a little village with havelis, havelis, havelis,....

Next stop: Bikaner. A little town with a nice fort:

6 hour drive- we arrive in the desert city Jaisalmer which is located in the west of India close to the Pakistan border. Jaisalmer is also called the „Golden City“ due to its golden-yellow sandstone architecture. We also spent one night in the Thar desert close to the city where you can go for a camel ride. Quite a turistic attractions but the lanscape was beautiful....

Our next destination was Jodhpur, also called the „Blue City“ because historically the houses of of the Brahmins which belong to a higher caste were painted in blue. Apart from having a cooling effect the blue colour protected against moscitos.

Udaipur – a city next to the Pichola lake. We stayed in Udaipur for two nights before we continued our journey to Pushkar.
